Sunspots and Spacemen

Detroit News, July 15, 1979

When you can't find what you want in a newspaper search wander off. In doing so I found another letter-to-the-editor from Laura Mundo and her group which included James Wales, Carmella Falzone and Florence Steller. This time in response to a Sunday News feature on Harry Willnus, then MUFON state director for Michigan and a longtime teacher in the Romulus school district, which puts him in the purview of Nankin Township which I obsessively research.

His views on UFOs are encapsulated in a very short segment. It's interesting to note that Laura and Co. had relocated to an Inkster address at the time, a less than savory location in SE Michigan.

I also uncovered an interesting article from 1957 when a young Harry Willnus had his arm blown up by a shotgun blast and eventually it was amputated. I'm not sure if this put him in the aggressor mode or just that of innocent bystander. Either way, it's a curious aside. Mr. Willnus died last year at the age of 85.
