Laura Mundo & Johnny

I've been up since 6 AM for some unknown reason and seeing as I listened to the Saucer Life podcast concerning Laura Mundo before bed I'll just assume that I was abducted over night. Haha. The following scans and photographs in this post are a few excerpts from Laura's 1929 The Opinions of the Dignified Seniors of C. H. S. booklet and other ephemera related to her. The latter part of the title of the first piece standing for William G. Crosby High School in Belfast, Maine. I'm not exactly sure how she arrived there from her hometown of Boston but a census or two from that time range suggests that her mother re-married and her and her siblings were living with their stepfather Albert Sheain and presumably their biological mother Alberta. The keepsake was purchased, along with other ephemera and photographs, from the estate of a relative of Laura living in Livonia, Michigan bearing the Marxer surname. The great thing about Worthpoint is that you can find past auctions on eBay and sometimes retrieve workable photos of obscure publications such as Laura Mundo's Pied Piper From Outer Space . In this particular auction they provided not only excellent shots of the front cover but also the Introduction, Foreward and first page which provides a great cliffhanger: "Consequently, when a flying saucer came down in the park, as I was crossing it late one night not long ago, coming home from a PTA meeting in Dearborn, Michigan, U. Speaker to Give Factual Reports On Flying Saucers

The Birmingham Eccentric , December 9, 1954 "The Truth About Flying Saucers" is the subject of a lecture scheduled for 7 p.m.. Sunday, Dec. 12, in the Pontiac senior high school auditorium. Laura Marxer, noted Saucer researcher and lecturer and vice president of the Detroit Flying Saucer club will be the speaker. Bob Chapek, former Birmingham resident and director of the Flying Saucer Research society of Michigan, said Mrs. Marxer would relate many factual, documented reports of sightings and landings of Saucers. * * * He said that the program would also include the showing of " The Day the Earth Stood Still ," a film dealing closely with the subject. This, with Mrs. Marxer's pictures and revelations on what has been done on unidentified flying objects will, he feels, do much to remove doubts about the existence of Saucers.
